It’s not often that a football freestlye grabs my attention the way this one did.  Check out this cat’s creative moves and unique flavor of football freestyle.

Check out episode 1 of a new series about underground streetball and freestyle produced by Last Chance and Pete Roc of Toronto.  In this episode LC rips a sick freestyle, there’s some interesting interviews, and the production is off the charts!  More to come . . .

This was recently posted on the freestylecentral forum, and I have to say he is one of the most creative and entertaining freestylers I’ve seen - period.  In terms of soccer freestylers he’s right up there with guys like Sean, Tatsulow, and Nam.  Check out how he incorporates breakdance moves seamlessly into some difficult soccer tricks.  This guy’s innovative moves might even give a few streetball freestylers some ideas . . .

This was taped in Phoenix during NBA All-Star Weekend ‘09. We were down there to battle it out for a StreetGodz competition. I’ve had a few requests to see some footage from the weekend so here you go. This is just a small teaser of the footage from the weekend.

Four of the world’s best freestylers go head-to-head for a cash prize and bragging rights. StreetGodz will once again invite some of the world’s best freestyle ballers to face off head-to-head for global recognition. The Get Down 2K9 is just a preview of what’s to come for the StreetGodz Do You Believe Summer Tour as we try to answer the question: Who is the number one basketball freestyler in the world?

China Streetball put together an online freestyle battle that included 22 contestants. Check out all of the videos on their YouTube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/ChinaStreetball

Here’s a few of the vids that caught my attention from the battle

Define Yourself

Besides being freestyle legends, what do Tommy Baker, Trikz, Goosebumps, and 6th Sense all have in common? Think about it for a second . . . each one of them were major pioneers and trendsetters in the freestyle world. This is no accident or strange coincidence; their skills, popularity, and success were the product of their originality. Each of them took the time to develop their own moves, their own styles, and through these efforts they defined themselves as leaders.

A lot of cats nowadays see videos on youtube and love to copy what they see move for move, combo for combo. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this when you are beginning. It’s a great way to gain a skill base and have somewhat of a teaching aid in learning how to do the basics. However once you get these basics down, if you really want to become a standout freestyler, and if you want to help keep the entire freestyle movement growing, you need to expand from the cookie-cutter moves. If you’re replicating a Motion Sickness freestyle to a “T” people are likely to forget you, and you probably won’t earn much respect in the freestyle world - especially from the people who created the moves and combos. At freestylecentral.com we’ll show love to any type of freestyle group or performer that grabs our attention. Team Flight Brothers is certainly one of those groups. TFB is arguably the best freestyle dunk crew in the world right now. Check out a sneak peak of their upcoming DVD, all shot in HD.

Street Godz
Street Godz is the latest trend to hit the alternative hoops scene. Evolving from TV commercials into a formal competitive event, freestyle basketball is on a high right now. Street Godz, effectively what UFC is to mixed-fighting, was launched by pro ball player Raphael Edwards in order to create a forum for creative hooping. The result is a steadily growing underground movement backed by Red Bull and ready to launch into the international market.

hd catchOn a Tuesday in March, 18-year-old Luis Da Silva Jr. arrived at Kaufman Astoria Studios, Stage E, just as he was told. After going through wardrobe and makeup, and greasing up his body with baby oil to create the illusion of sweat, the 5-foot-11, bald-headed wonder they call “Trikz” flaunted the basketball moves he had been practicing in his “2-by-4 backyard” in Elizabeth, N.J.
