BRISCO : hum…first i was a streetballer, and watching a lot of mixtape and videos i saw a lot of freestyler and started to do it, but it was

N-tray, one of the fastest rising freestyle phenoms, took some time to tell us a bit about himself and his goals as freestyler. He also dropped a hot new clip showing his amazing versatility. Check out what he has to show and tell
Tell us a little bit about yourself
Well my name is Kalani Ahmad AKA N-tray and I’m from Honolulu, Hawaii. I was born in 1987 and recently turned 22 in January. I played high school ball for 3 years, and almost made college ball but got injured badly during tryouts and got cut cause of it. But I am still debating on trying out again next year. I’m all about basketball you would probably catch me ballin when ever and where ever, but since I live in Hawaii, I love the beach, and the weather. Read the rest of this entry »
Who or what inspired you to start freestyling?
When I’d work on ball-handling it was a way to prevent boredom, when you spend hours focusing on improving a certain aspect of your game you need to find new ways to challenge yourself. Personally I can only do ball-handling drills for so long, I always found enjoyment in trying different dribbling moves, and saw it to be a good creative outlet.
Over the last 5 years or so, you’ve been on of the most copied freestylers in terms of moves, combos and style. What do you think about so many people doing your moves?
Well there have been people doing this before me, and I have been influenced by many so I can’t take that credit. But I’ve always benefited from the lack of originality in streetball. If you want to be viewed as elite in whatever you may do its important to separate yourself. I’ve always tried to capitalize on what people weren’t doing.

Tommy Baker took some time out to give us his thoughts on the freestyle scene, how he developed his signature style, and more.
1.You were the first to really start doing 3 ball freestyling. What inspired you to take that direction? How did you come up with the idea?
Well, I did not just come up with the idea as you see it now. It is a vision that has grown with me over the years from a child… long before the days of the internet and You Tube. It was The Harlem Globetrotters that I saw performing basketball tricks first and it was Tanya Crevier who gave me the idea of tricks with 3 basketballs. I saw her dribbling 3 balls at Wembley (London) in the early 1990’s. However, the inspiration for my ariel juggling has come from the world of circus and juggling. There have been so many different artists and acts that have caught my attention over the years. Read the rest of this entry »
